Dr Ian Driver: Head of Nuclear Medicine

At your initial appointment you will have an examination and have some blood taken to check thyroid hormone and thyroglobulin levels. If you are taking calcium supplements this will also be checked.

You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions and express any concerns you may have with the medical staff and the thyroid specialist nurse.

You will also be given the opportunity to meet a fellow patient from the Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust.

Many patients find it helpful to make a list of items they want to discuss beforehand and bring this with them. Please feel free to bring along a family member, friend, companion as they will be made welcome.

You will have the opportunity to visit the Nuclear Medicine Department (where your scans will be done) and the Iodine Suite on Ward 35 (where you will have your treatment).
