The Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust is unique in being able to offer on-site clinical support to Thyroid Cancer patients from a fellow patient.
Kate Farnell MBE, who founded the group, works in Dr. U. K. Mallick’s clinic on Monday mornings at NCCC at the Freeman Hospital.
All patients are given the opportunity to meet with Kate during their hospital appointment for information, advice and support.
They are also offered accompanied visits to:
- the Medical Physics Department to see the scanning equipment used in Thyroid Cancer
- the Iodine Suite (treatment room) on ward 37 where patients will spend three to four days when having their treatment.
Patients are given time to ask any questions or share any concerns with Kate who has gone through the same treatment protocol herself.
