Cancer Information Centre (C.I.C.)

The C.I.C., within the Northern Centre for Cancer Care at Newcastle General Hospital, is situated in the main patient waiting area. It is managed by a trained oncology nurse who is supported in the Centre by a group of volunteers, some of whom have personal experience of cancer.

The centre provides basic and easy-to-understand information on subjects of interest to cancer patients, their families, friends and carers including the effects that a cancer diagnosis can bring and financial help.

Thyroid Cancer Forum UK

This web site is the brainchild of Consultant Oncologist Laura Moss from Velindre Hospital, Wales.

It gives professionals thoughout the UK the opportunity to discuss Thyroid Cancer cases.

It also contains useful, straightforward information for patients.

The forum also:

circulates journal abstracts and information on forthcoming courses and meetings,

has a reference document library,

has a prospective data collection facility.

The discussion forum also allows professionals to discuss general thyroid cancer management issues and cases (patients are of course anonymous).

Dr Moss won a  Pfizer Excellence in Oncology Award in 2007 for her work with this innovative project.

A UK charity that offers general advice and information about rare and less common cancers and facilitates supportive networking between patients.
